The middle of August 2011 brought us our first visitors! The Gracia/LeJeune families came up from Texas for a week of fun and adventures! Part 2.....
The next couple of days we spent walking around downtown Boston together!

We took the girls for a ride on the Swan Boats. They run during the summer from mid April through mid September. The Swan Boats driver paddles passengers around the Public Garden Lagoon for a 15 minute peaceful cruise.
The Public Garden has the most beautiful Weeping Willows I've ever seen!
After the Swan Boat ride we sat in the Garden to wait for the guys to come back from touring the Samuel Adams brewery. While Trinity was playing with the ducks, Sofie asked me to take her to see the Dandelions. I didn't see any, so I told her to she could take me to them. She led me across the whole garden to those pretty pink pansies where we sat and smelled them until it was time to go.
The next day we got up super early and took the bus and metro down to Boston Harbor to catch the boat to Georges Island! Georges Island is just over 7 miles from Boston Harbor and is about 39 acres in size. That makes it just about the same size at the farm I grew up on! :)
The boat ride was so much fun with a chilly wind. Daddy filmed as we approached Georges Island.
We had a great time on the boat since they allow passengers to stand outside and enjoy the view!
We arrived on Georges Island and walked around exploring the island.
Georges Island is home to Fort Warren, which is thoroughly explored!
We found stairs that took us to the top of the Fort and the view was amazing!
The above is a picture of the water taxi we took from Georges Island to Spectacle Island.
Spectacle Island is situated 4 miles from Boston Harbor and is about 85 acres in size, making for much more exploring possibilities. It's large size is due to trash and dirt dumping in the past. Now it's part of the public park system of islands in the Harbor.
Daddy and Carol hiked to the top of the biggest hill and reported that the view was great but it was quite a climb.

There aren't many pictures of Spectacle Island because this is where we settled down and ate lunch on the beach. The girls and I hunted for pretty rocks and shells and we spent a lovely relaxing afternoon.
All good things must come to an end,
and so everyone had to return home and back to work after a great week of fun!
