Gracia Family Visit Part 1

The middle of August 2011 brought us our first visitors! The Gracia/LeJeune families came up from Texas for a week of fun and adventures! Part 1.....

We tried out a local diner named Kelly's Diner in Ball Square which was quite yummy and had super cool diner guys.
Good home cookin'.
                                                                                                                <--Super cool diner guys.

Realizing that Maine was only a 2 hour drive away we plotted our GPS to Portland, ME (mainly because we recognized the name) and headed out on our first driving adventure, with Daddy and his hand held camera at the ready.

On the way to Maine we stopped off to see Lenny the life size chocolate Moose and his bear friend.

Sadly we weren't allowed to lick him. So, we satisfied ourselves with buy a bunch of chocolate to try later. :)

Arriving in Portland, ME we found parking relatively easy and paying our meter we set out to walk around until we got hungry.

I would like to draw your attention to the many permitted uses of this Promenade Trail. Cross-country skiing and Showshoeing are two activities that I've never seen advertised as permitted uses on a public trail before. Gives us some good insight as to the type of winter they regularly have in Maine.

Daddy had a blast filming our first experience of Maine.

Three Dinghies and a Duck!

We stopped to eat at Gritty's, Maine's original brew pub.

We tried Clam Chowder and Lobster Rolls.

Daddy trying Lobster for the first time.......................said he needed to eat his pickle to cover up the taste.

Cool-As-A-Moose was a super fun store we perused. Such a great name for a store.

Upon arriving back home we cute up the chocolates we purchased from Lenny the chocolate moose store so that we could try kind we had. It was just like a real tasting, we each took a piece of the same chocolate and tasted it at the same time and compared thoughts. They were all delicious!

I thought these magnets were hilarious so I bought them for our refrigerator, where they can be found to this day.

We'll be exploring downtown Boston, MA and a couple of the islands in Boston harbor!
