First Sight-Seeing Trip

One of the first places we decided to see was Cape Cod!
The last weekend in July, 2011 we drove down to Cape Cod, MA and found a delightful cafe and picturesque lighthouses.

We just happened upon The Optimist Cafe while driving around. We were getting hungry and it looked so inviting that we decided to stop and check it out.
Matt tried one of their signature drinks....a Ginger Teatini. Basically a Ginger Iced Tea in a martini glass, no alcohol. I had my usual......cream with a little coffee. It was great! They also served some tasty foods too.

Outside the cafe they had these whale statues. Too funny!

After driving around in search of these lighthouses we finally came upon them. It took longer than we thought to find these illusive lighthouses hidden amongst the many beaches but the drive gave us a great opportunity of seeing all the lovely beaches and many beautiful houses of Cape Cod.

Yes, those are tiny people dotting the shore line.....even though it was July it was still too cool for us to think of swimming. So, we headed homewards.

On the way back we realized that we'd be passing right by Plymouth, MA. Isn't that were the famous Plymouth Rock would be located? Yes indeed!

As we now inform all our visitors, Plymouth Rock is much smaller than us Southerners would have imagined. We have to admit to being a bit disappointed with our first encounter.

Plymouth, MA, despite the undersized famous rock, was a lovely seaside town.

The Harbor also holds an exact replica of The Mayflower. It was amazing to see how small it was in person.

We were also able to spot another lighthouse! It was across the harbor on the sandy peninsula.

As the sun set on Plymouth Harbor we called it a great day and headed home....into the sunset.

This sightseeing trip would conclude our first month living in Massachusetts!
We were anticipatory of our first visitors due to arrive the next month! :)

Check back in a week for upcoming posts on our fist visitors!
